Rush Creek Lodge Yosemite

Ahhh, those tantalizing Instagram photos of Yosemite in the fall… they got me! They got me goooood.. And I just had to see for myself if it was really that beautiful (it is!). But I didn’t commit to a quick getaway before finding an incredible place to stay first. Thankfully, Rush Creek Lodge called (no, they didn’t actually call), and I’m damn glad I answered. If Instagram’s taunting reels aren’t enough to convince you, then let me give you ten reasons why you should stay at Rush Creek Lodge in the fall.

Disclaimer: As an adventure travel blogger and (wannabe) influencer, I received a discounted rate to stay at this hotel. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about our stay. As a travel advisor, I can help book your stay here and possibly score you discounts and perks, too!

#10: Those Fall Colors

Yosemite and its bright fall trees are just magical this time of year. The colors were spectacular – more beautiful in person than any Instagram filter can muster.

And Rush Creek Lodge, just outside of the Yosemite entrance, looks just as stunning. It makes you want to get a pumpkin spice latte and snuggle up next to the fire.

Did I say “snuggle up next to the fire”?
I meant to say, “dance by it.”

You have to see this place for yourself.

#9: The Balcony Views

Our views from Villa 1C were pretty darn spectacular as well. Before we headed back home on our last morning, we turned on the fire, sipped our coffees, and let life slow down for just a bit longer as we enjoyed the view together.

#8: S’mores

You had me at s’mores.

#7: Location, Location, Location

Rush Creek Lodge is only half a mile from Yosemite NP’s Highway 120 West Entrance and minutes from Hetch Hetchy. Next time we want to do a day hike in Hetch Hetchy the day we arrive, because it’s so close to the lodge.

The lodge is also close enough (3 hours) to the Bay Area for a little weekender. Save that PTO for Europe!

#6: The Crowds Have Thinned

The last time we went to Yosemite was in May of 2019. That visit actually turned us off a bit because it was so crowded and hectic at that time of year.

But this trip was completely different with no traffic, accessible photo ops like this one, and the ability to park practically wherever we wanted.

And the weather was still gorgeous, actually much better than the surprise snow and crazy rain we got in May!

#5: There’s Something for Everyone

Rush Creek Lodge is a great place to bring the whole family, any age group really, because there is something for everyone. It’s nice to see an accessible resort so all ages and abilities can stay.

Turn off the screens and enjoy a board game, BINGO, or puzzle in the lounge.

Test your skills at shuffle board, bocce ball, corn hole, darts and horse shoes.

Take a dip in the heated pool and unwind at the spa.

Then grab a beer on tap and cheer on your favorite team.

When you’re ready to turn in, know that you’ll sleep soundly in this quiet place, and with ample space in one of the family villas. You can check out a room tour on my IG, but here is a teaser:

#4: The “All Out” Outdoor Play Area

In addition to the plethora of games I already mentioned, there is a huge slide, playground, giant checkers, and enough ziplines to keep siblings from fighting over just one.

What a play haven!!!

#3: More Play Areas, Inside!

If the weather turns south, don’t worry. The kids can go wild indoors also.

They have a pool table, foosball, air hockey, pin ball machine. And it’s all right there while you can play a game of shuffle board, or relax across the hall in the cozy, spacious lounge.

Or I guess if you are kid free, then have some champagne by the spa! What is that like?!

#2: It’s Cheaper

Why pay summer prices if you can sneak away to this mountain retreat for far less in the fall?

And the #1 Reason Why You Should Stay at Rush Creek Lodge in the Fall…

You won’t regret it! Trust me. We can’t wait to go back. It was one of our favorite quick getaways, by far!

Tips for Your Stay

~ When they said check in was at 4pm, they meant it! We checked in on a busy check-out day. So, nap time turned into more outdoor play time!! No big deal. We kept the kids busy with the hotel playground and a nature scavenger hunt.

~ Check the National Park Service website for info like road closures, especially this time of year.

~ The road to Rush Creek and Yosemite is crazy curvy for a bit – just be ready for it.

~ If you can make this trip happen, then follow me on IG for my 2-day itinerary in Yosemite, with or without little ones!

Happy fall vibes! And thanks again Rush Creek Lodge for such a fun and relaxing stay, all bundled into one! My son already demanded that we go back for his birthday!
