I’m Jen, aka “The Flying Mum,” a travel-addicted mama who is determined to find our next family adventure.
And when I say “adventure” I don’t mean just surviving a wild day at Disneyland with two toddlers.
I’m talking REAL adventures, like cliff walks and zip lining in Switzerland, via ferrata in the Dolomites, and alpine coasters in Germany. And conquering the most challenging hikes with rope climbs, suspension bridges, and 3,280 feet of elevation gain. Our three-year-old did that!
But I’m not stoppin there. I want to help all children be able to travel more easily, no matter their abilities or disabilities. That’s why I’ve started a clothing line – to help raise funds for my cause, in partnership with Wonders Within Reach.
I think it’s my full-time work as a physical therapist in a trauma center that motivates me to carry out my travel dreams. I see firsthand the lives of young people changed after an unexpected traumatic event. The constant reminder that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. I don’t want to wait until our babies are grown just so that our vacations are easier. I want to have as many memorable experiences with my husband and children that our retire-early budget can withstand, and I want them now.
When I’m not busy planning our next adventure, I like our family walks around the neighborhood, running and working out, indulging in a juicy burger and IPA or red wine, and binge-watching our latest favorite with my hubby (and that list is in no particular order).
I also love looking for the best luxury or semi-luxury hotels with an elaborate kid-friendly atmosphere (water slides… ball pits…you name it). What will I find next???
Many think my husband and I are cuh-razy for traveling with kiddos. But we think we’d be crazy NOT to! We love the adventure (and challenge, haha) of it all. We hope you will too! Not convinced? Read my Top 10 Reasons to Travel With Your Baby or Toddler.
